New Mexican market and restaurant

Guanajuato Market and The Taqueria restaurant is now open in Washington Plaza. The store offers fresh fruit and vegetables, a meat counter, dry groceries, frozen specialties and some health and beauty products and Mexican ceramic handicrafts. The Taqueria serves traditional Mexican cuisine with the diners’ choice of toppings.

Brewery celebrates fifth anniversary

the Henderson Brewing Co. will celebrate its five-year anniversary with a party on Saturday, July 8, from noon until 10:30 pm Stop in for special beer releases and food from the Trappin’ Chicken food truck.

Sunflower days coming soon

Mayse Farm Market will soon be celebrating Sunflower Days. Watch the Facebook page for opening day, which should come in mid-July. There will be sunflowers and zinnias for photo shoots and other fun family-friendly farm activities, and, of course, Mayse produces and baked goods.

Food trailer helps kids learn business skills

Young & Established now has a food trailer that is often open outside the Y&E headquarters on Vann Avenue and may be moved to local events. It sells drinks, packaged snacks and ice cream sandwiches for $1 or $2, and the kids working in it learn about how to run a business and manage finances. Watch the Facebook page for details of when and where the trailer will be open.

West Side Tavern adds new outdoor patio

Zap’s Tavern has added a spacious new patio to the building, so customers can enjoy fresh country air with their cold beer, pizza, burger, fried chicken, or a lighter item such as a chicken salad platter or summer sausage platter from the new summer menu.
